Dr. Sarah Candler is an Internal Medicine Physician, specializing in primary care for high-risk, older adults. She has dedicated both her practice and policy work to improving access to high quality, sustainable primary care. Her professional goal is to recenter the American healthcare system on the patient-physician relationship through payment reforms, public transparency, and team-based care. Dr. Candler’s practice experience ranges from an academic VA hospital to private equity Medicare clinics, and private practice primary care. She has served in multiple national leadership roles at the American College of Physicians (ACP) and American Medical Association, and has contributed to policy papers on team-based care, payment reform and value-based care. She was a primary author on ACP’s paper and toolkit "Beyond the Referral: Principles of Effective, Ongoing Primary and Specialty Care Collaboration." She lives in Washington, DC with her family.
